PKA Acoustic Consulting has been in practice since 1968 under the direction of Peter. R. Knowland, involved entirely in the field of acoustics and vibration over this period. The firm has extensive experience in the measurement, analysis and control of sound and vibration, with clientele including the Queensland Cultural Centre; the Aotea Centre in Auckland and the Sydney Opera House.
Recently PKA has been involved in major projects such as the Performing Arts Centre at Pymble Ladies College and the 'Portico' Scots Church redevelopment. The firm has also had commissions from Qantas, the University of Sydney, City of Sydney Customs House, Woollhara Hotel and Sydney Town Hall to name a few. The firm currently has five (5) employees on staff for acoustic consultation - Peter Knowland (Principal), Simon Connolly (Associate), Matthew Ottley (Senior Acoustician), Joel Parry-Jones and Berengere Farras (Acousticians).

Featured Pymble Ladies College Performing Arts Centre
In 2003, PKA Acoustic Consulting were involved in the acoustic planning of the Gillian Moore Centre for Performing Arts at Pymble Ladies College, Sydney. The auditorium seats up to 750 people, with state of the art theatrical, lighting and sound facilities. PKA advised on suitable materials and finishes to obtain optimum acoustic performance.
PKA was also involved in acoustic assessment and advice regarding the foyer, rehearsal room, large and small studios, control room, workshop and loading dock. The centre has hosted many talented musicians, such as the Australian String Quartet.
